Caption: The Westhampton Beach Fire Department officially entered its new pumper 7-8-1 into service at a traditional wet down ceremony held at the department's Sunset Avenue firehouse on Sunday. Members of the Eastport Fire Department did the honors, dousing the new truck in front of approximately one hundred firemen and guests. The new vehicle, which was delivered to the department in March was built by the Seagrave Company of Clintonville, Wisconsin. It is equipped with a 1500 gallon per minute pump and a 750 gallon tank as well as 3000 feet of fire hose of various diameters. It has an 8 KW generator and an on board foam tank and its body is made of stainless steel which is important in a seaside community. The truck, which can carry up to eight firemen, has made about thirty calls since the factory delivered it in March. It replaces a truck which the department has owned since 1992.
